The Voices Foundation recently distributed the amount of Euro 180,000 to various charities. The funds came from the sale of tickets, merchandise as well as donations during the Voices Tell Me Why concerts held last October.
Voices is a 200 strong choir made up of volunteers, which performs popular music over ten nights with a live band. All expenses are covered through sponsorships, with the main sponsor being the Vodafone Malta Foundation. This makes it possible for all revenue from ticket sales to be donated to charity. This year it was decided that half the amount collected would be donated to one major project, the Caritas Learning Centre, while the rest of the funds would be distributed to other worthwhile charities.
The other beneficiaries include:
The Breast Care Support Group, Fondazzjoni Hajja Indipendenti, Puttinu Cares ,Fondazzjoni Wens, Malta Parkinson’s Disease Association, Appogg Children’s Fund Fundraising Committee Muscular Dystrophy Group, Central Office Ejjew Ghandi (Children’s Homes), Physically Handicapped Rehabilitation Fund, Centru Tbexbix – Sunrise Centre, Razzett tal-Hbiberija Commissioner for Children, Paulo Freire Institute, Conservatorio Vincenzo Bugeja Fra Diegu Home, Dar Sagra Familja, Daughters of the Sacred Heart, Dar Leopoldo (Suret il-Bniedem), Gawad Kalinga (Philippines), Dar Tereza Spinelli (Suret il-Bniedem), Jesuit Volunteers Malta (InYgo), Helen Keller Special Needs School, Mission of Mercy Salesians – St.Patrick’s, Medical Missionaries of Mary, St.Jeanne Antide Foundation Sudan Mission (Rumbek), St.Joseph Home – St.Venera, Trabajo Para Hermano (Chile) Youth Generation Co-op, Daritama, ZAK (Zghazagh Azzjoni Kattolika), Malta Red Cross Society Gozo Branch, Fondazzjoni Bormliza Persuni b’Dizabilita, Malta Wireless & Talking Books for the Blind Foundation, Amputees Association, OASI Foundation, Equal Partners Foundation, St.John’s Ambulance.
