During the Octave of Prayers for Christian Unity the Legion of Mary, Gozo, again this year organized an Ecumenical Service with songs and prayers. Being a Pauline Year, 2000 years since the birth of Saint Paul, the service was held at the Parish Church of Saint Paul Shipwreck, Munxar. The theme, taken from the Prophet Ezekiel was “that they may become one in your hand.”
Father Tonio Galea, the Parish Priest of Munxar welcomed the congregation while Bishop of Gozo Mario Grech and Anglican Chaplain Father Jeff Williams addressed the congregation. Both emphasized that with more tolerance and understanding, more courageous gestures of reconciliation, prayers and hard work, Christian unity which is so elusive would come sooner rather than later.
Sister Giovanna Francesca Curmi played the organ and the choir ‘Ilhna Smewwija’ of Munxar animated the service.
Refreshments provided by the Munxar Local Council were served afterwards at the Munxar Parish Centre.
