Gozo Bishop Mario Grech has appointed Fr Nazju Borg as parish priest of Kercem.
Fr Anton Refalo has been appointed Rector of the Church of the Nazarene Christ in Xaghra and Fr Giovanni Curmi was appointed as Diocesan Pastoral Secretary.
Fr Nazju Borg was born in Xaghra on 28 August 1959. He studied at the Xaghra Primary School and continued his studies at the Junior Lyceum in Victoria.
Fr Borg started his priestly formation at the Gozo Seminary in 1977 and was ordained priest on 22 June 1985. He studied at the Lateran University in Rome and obtained a licentiate in Diplomatic Theology and a Masters of Arts in spirituality at the University of St Thomas.
On his return to Gozo, he was appointed Rector for the Church of Christ the Nazarene in Xaghra. He was also a Religious Counsellor at the Agius De Soldanis Secondary School in Victoria and of various primary schools in Gozo. Fr Borg was also a lecturer in Liturgy at the Seminary and in the Minor Seminary in Gozo.
Fr Refalo was born in Xaghra on 19 January 1963. He studied at the Xaghra Primary School and continued his studies at the Sacred Heart Secondary School in Victoria.
He began his priestly formation at the Gozo Seminary in 1982 and was ordained priest on 24 June 1989. After his ordination, Fr Refalo performed pastoral work at the parish of St Mary and St Edwards in Long Island, New York and completed his higher studies at Molloy University in New York.
In the past six years, Fr Refalo worked as the Bishop?s Delegate for the Curia?s Public Relations Office and the Social Communications Office of the diocese. He also carried out pastoral work at the Xaghra parish.
Fr Curmi was born in Munxar on 16 September 1966. He studied at the primary schools of Sannat and Zebbug and then went on to secondary education at the Seminary and at the Sixth Form.
Fr Curmi began his philosophical and theological formation at the Gozo Seminary in 1984 and was ordained priest by Bishop Nikol Cauchi on the 22 June 1991. He was sent to Rome where he carried out pastoral work at the parish dedicated to St Philip Neri and studied at the Lateran University.
In 1996, Fr Curmi returned to Gozo where he carried out work at the Good Shepherd Pastoral Centre in Rabat and at the Munxar parish. He also worked as a teacher and religious councillor at Sir Mikelang Refalo Secondary School, he was also Director of the Diocesan Altar Boy Group as well as Director of the Gozitan Pre-Seminary.
