Beatification and Canonisation process opens for Fra Grazzja GauciFather Josef Sciberras, Postulator General of the Order of Augustinian monks, in December last year submitted the request to the Bishop of Gozo Mgr. Mario Grech, to open the process for the Beatification and Canonisation of Fra Grazzja (named Nazareth) Gauci OSA.

In a statement, the Gozo Diocese has said that this morning at the St. Augustine Convent in Victoria, the first session of the Ecclesiastical Tribunal was held in the presence of Bishop Grech, Fr. Leslie Gatt OSA, Provincial of the Maltese Augustinian Friars, and Mgr. Salv Debrincat, Chancellor of the Curia.Beatification and Canonisation process opens for Fra Grazzja GauciTribunal members were sworn in during this first session: Mgr. Edward Xuereb STh.D, JCD, Judicial Vicar and Delegate of the Bishop will lead this survey, Archpriest Mgr Trevor Sultana JCL, STh.B, Promoter of Justice, and Annunziata Grech M.A. notary.

The Diocese said that the Tribunal will start hearing witnesses in the coming days.
