Bishop Grech makes two new appointments within the DioceseThe Bishop of Gozo Mgr. Mario Grech, with effect from today, has appointed Fr Daniel Sultana from the Parish of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Xaghra, as Pastoral Secretary of the diocese.

Fr Giovanni Curmi M.A.. (Melit), of the parish of St Paul’s Shipwreck, Munxar, has been appointed as Delegate to Diakonia.

Fr Daniel Sultana was born on the 5th of October 1988 in Sydney NSW, he moved with his parents to Xaghra in his childhood. He was ordained priest on the 30th of May 2014.

Following his ordination, he went to Rome where he carried out pastoral service in the parish of St. Gabriel of Sorrows. Over the last four years Fr Daniel has studied, and successfully obtained a license in the Pontifical University of Santa Croce’s School of Church Communications.

In October 2018 he was appointed Assistant to the Pastoral Secretary of the Gozo Diocese and Parish Vicar in the Parish of the Cathedral of Our Lady, Victoria.

Fr Giovanni Curmi was born in Munxar, Gozo, and ordained a priest on the 22nd of June 1991. After the first years of pastoral work in Rome, he was called back to Gozo, where he served in various offices and pastoral ministries within the diocese.

His priestly ministry is performed today at the Good Shepherd Pastoral Centre, Tac Cawla. In recent years he has worked in the Pastoral Secretariat at the Bishop’s Curia and in accordance with need, at the Gozo General Hospital.
