AD welcomes new mobile operators prepaid policy

No mobile time windowAlternattiva Demokratika- The Green Party has said that it welcomes the initiative of Melita plc to start their prepaid mobile phone services without having any fixed time window on usage of prepaid topup mobile credit.

Arnold Cassola, Alternattiva Demokratika Chairperson, said, “We have started the ball rolling in the European Parliament, through the Green Group in the European Parliament, by putting a parliamentary question to the Commission on the issue. Other Maltese MEPs have also brought up the issue. It is good to see that the new mobile company has responded positively.”

Henrik Piski, spokesperson of Alternattiva Demokratika on IT and communications, said, “While such practices have been condemned by court rulings in several European Union countries, Alternattiva Demokratika is insisting with the local regulator that this practice of the fixed time window should be disallowed.”

Henrik Piski concluded: “AD hopes that the other mobile operators will follow suit, thus providing their customers the services they have paid for without them being curtailed through a time window.”
