Following the recent damage in submarine fibre-optic cables linking Malta to Sicily, Vodafone Malta has commenced inspections and technical repairs on its submarine fibre-optic cable. Until Melita commissions its own submarine cable later on this year, Melita services its bandwidth requirements from Vodafone and therefore, the repairs on Vodafone’s cable may result in service disruptions to Melita’s internet customers.
Melita said it would like to apologise for any inconvenience due to Vodafone’s technical repairs and assures its clients that every effort is being made to reduce possible inconvenience. However, Melita said it has no control over these repair works and consequently, is not in a position to provide an exact end date for the repair process; as this depends exclusively on the duration of remedial works by Vodafone.
Melita said it will continue to provide status updates to its customers further to information received from Vodafone.

“Melita said it will continue to provide status updates to its customers further to information received from Vodafone”
No it did not!
My connection has been slow for the last two days, there was nothing on Melita’s web site explaining why, I only found out from GozoNews Wednesday morning.
This is just one of many poor service problems from this company, Melita are abusing their dominant position in the market place.
I too have seen international response times impacted, but only just found out why (more thanks to John Edwards than Melita).
I can understand that Melita has no control over the duration of repairs but it does have control over information flow.
Melita could quite easily have sent out a broadcast message to its subscribers using their registered @onvol.net email addresses to apologise and inform subscribers, preferably in advance.
Is this too much to ask from Melita Customer (Dis)services?
My internet connection on my laptop was playing up until 1st february, so far its good. Though my Xbox Live Connection is very poor. Today It was fine until it started to lag horrendously. When I left that game and tried to join a new one the message pops up saying “Unable To Join Match” This really is getting me frustrated.
