Final of the Gozo Sports Award taking place later this month

The fifth edition of the Gozo Sports Awards, is being organised by the Gozo Sports Board. The evening event will highlight and recognise, the efforts and achievements of athletes, coaches and sports administrators in Gozo.
Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana welcomed the fact that for this edition a record 46 nominations have been received in 13 different disciplines, saying that it shows how strong the field of sports is in Gozo.
She added that although there are some limitations here, this is not stopping the encouraging results achieved at local, national and international levels, such as among others, the success of the Gozitan athletes in this year’s Special Olympics.
Minister Caruana mentioned the various initiatives and projects being undertaken in Gozo by the Ministry for the benefit of sport, promising that the Ministry for Gozo will give its full commitment to supporting the improvement of existing sporting facilities.
Alvin Grech CEO of the Gozo Sports Board, explained in detail the selection process to be held on the final evening.
He said this year the competition will be more transparent with the number of jurors increasing from 5 to 9, and selected from different disciplines.
Mr Grech thanked the Minister for Gozo for her commitment to further strengthening sport in Gozo.
The final of the Gozo Sports Award will be held on Friday, the 26 April, under the auspices of the Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana.
