60th anniversary Mass for Servant of God Fr Michael Attard

Mgr. Mario Grech, Bishop of Gozo, recently led Mass in Ta’ Pinu on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Presbyterial Servant of God Fr Michael Attard.
The Mass was concelebrated with Mons. Paul Cardona Episcopal vicar for the Clergy for the Gozo Diocese, Mgr. Joseph Attard, and many other priests. The Mass was broadcast on TVM2.
The Church Tribunal will soon conclude the diocesan process of the Beatification Cause of the Servant of God Fr Michael Attard
Bishop Grech, said that he, like many other priests benefited from the spiritual direction of Father Michael when he was in his years of formation at the Gozo Seminary. He added that Fr Michael brings Jesus not only to individuals but also to our society.
Fr Michael Attard was a priest from the Diocese of Gozo. He died in 2004 after a long illness.
At his funeral in August 2004 Bishop Nicholas G. Cauchi described him as a “gem” of the Gozitan clergy.
Fr. Michael was born in Nadur, Gozo, on the 1st of October 1933, the first of 12 siblings. He was the son of Coronato and Anna neè Tabone. His father used to work in Malta as a contractor and builder and he moved with his family to Hamrun, Fr. Michael spent his first 6 or 7 years living in Malta.
In 1940, after the second world war started, Coronato decided to return with his family to Nadur
He was ordained at the Gozo Cathedral on April 12, 1959. Fr. Michael was very devoted to Jesus in the Eucharist and to our Lady of Ta’ Pinu and to her he offered all his pastoral work.
In August 2014, Mgr Salv Debrincat, Chancellor of the Bishop’s Curia, read the edict which announced to the Catholic community that the diocesan process of the Beatification Cause of the Servant of God Fr Michael Attard was officially opened.
