Gozo Sports Complex hosts free family sports festival with fun for all

It might have been a wet Sunday morning, but inside the Gozo Sports Complex if was a hive of activity, with sports and fun for all the family in the free sports festival for all the family – Let’s all Get Active.
Organised by a group of second year University students in collaboration with the Ministry for Gozo and various sports entities, the festival was aimed at physical activities and sport promotion for all ages, and was attended by the Minister for Gozo Dr Justyne Caruana.There was a Mass for children to open the festival, which was led by Fr Simon Cachia. And during the morning two of the Gozitan Special Olympics athletes Maria-Pia Saliba and Carmelo Pace, who made all of Gozo so proud with their medal winning achievements in Abu Dhabi, joined in the fun.
Just some of the activities on offer included a spectacular opening performance by the Centre Stage Dance Academy; Kinetika Gozo challenge for adults; Face painting for children; A performance by Team Netta Kids; A Zumba work out led by a fully qualified instructor; Gymnpro Gozo children’s session; The Malta Wheelchair Basketball workshop and a Workshop for children and adults and a demo by the Gozo Spirit Combat International Club.A passport was given to all the children who attended the festival, and after each activity they completed it was stamped, then once full they were able to redeem a gift.
All the proceeds from the food stall and sale of raffle tickets is being donated to Puttinu Cares.
