Mark Grima, the Xewkija Tigers’ goalkeeper, has been awarded the BOV GFA Player of the Month for February.
The award was presented to Mark by Horace Laudi, Chief Officer at Bank of Valletta.
Grima had to miss some matches at the beginning of the football season through an injury problem, however a fast recovery saw him regain his position between the posts for Xewkija.
His career started at a very young age with Victoria Hotspurs, where he won awards in the GFA 1st and 2nd Division between 2008 and 2011. He was also one of Team Gozo’s goalkeepers in the UEFA Regions Cup.
The GFA said that a 1-1 scoreline against Nadur Youngsters would have been much worse for Xewkija had 34-year old Grima not pulled a string of fine saves to help his team get the important point – a performance that was repeated in their 2-1 loss to Nadur Youngsters. These matches were followed up with a 7-1 routing of Gharb Rangers.
The Ark Foundation was chosen by Mark to benefit from the donation associated with this award.
