Work starts to resume helicopter service between Malta and Gozo

In a visit to the Gozo Heliport, Minister for Tourism Konrad Mizzi and Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana announced that work is currently ongoing to resume operating the helicopter service between Malta and Gozo.
Minister Konrad Mizzi explained that the service would operate directly to Malta International Airport.
A feasibility study is currently underway based on several different scenarios and models through the company Malta MedAir. Mizzi added that the Ministry is also in contact with several aviation transport companies, including Airbus for the various models of helicopters that could potentially be used between Malta and Gozo.
He said that this air link service will have a number of benefits including, emergency services, for tourism purposes, and better connectivity internationally for both Gozitans and foreigners
The Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana explained that the government’s vision for Gozo is a better connectivity between the two islands to maximise the potential of the island.
She thanked the Minister for Tourism for understanding that this service must be restarted, not only to further strengthen connectivity between the islands, but also because it is a key component in ensuring that Gozo continues to benefit from success in the tourism sector, and continue to attract quality tourists.
