Update: The Nadur Local Council has said that because of the forecast for stormy weather this weekend, it will make a decision at 9am on Sunday morning regarding the festivities for the afternoon’s Organised Carnival. Notification will be made on the Council facebook page.
Nadur village has become synonymous with Carnival and Sunday will .kick-start these very popular celebrations, when four hours of fun will get underway from 12.30pm, with over 500 participants in a packed programme of activities taking place in St. Peter & St. Paul Square.
The Nadur Local Council is inviting everyone to join them and be part of this unique event, on Sunday, the 24th of February.
There will be something to entertain all ages, including a riot of colour, laughter, a variety of carnival dances, hilarious sketches, costumes, maskeruni, floats – both large and small, and the traditional kukkanja to bring it to a close.
This will be followed later in the week with the famous Nadur Spontaneous Carnival – which projects the message of carnival made through satire.
This year’s Spontaneous Carnival promises to be “bigger and better,” the Council said, with guest DJs for the evenings, including Commander Jay, DJ Pierre Cordina, Ronald Briffa & Friends, DJ Joe Spiteri and Micimago.
The Spontaneous Carnival starts on Friday, the 1st through to Tuesday, the 5th of March, in December 13th Street, St. Peter & St. Paul Square and the surrounding streets, beginning after sunset each day and lasting till the early morning hours……
