MEP Alfred Sant has said that Maltese and Gozitan citizens will soon choose their representatives in Europe and these elections “must give a clear verdict on those trying to undermine and destabilise our national interests in Europe.”
Alfred Sant, who was speaking to a packed audience in Qawra, added “it’s important we discuss our political disagreements internally, but should never harm our country in Europe.”
He said that “damaging Malta in Europe runs against the interests of the Maltese and Gozitans who are eager to improve the standard of living of our young people, workers, pensioners and their families.
“Twenty months ago the Maltese and Gozitan electorate voiced their trust in Joseph Muscat’s government. It’s the same choice we are facing on the 25th of May: we must strengthen our confidence in this government.”
Dr Sant stated that “certain local political forces have obstructed and will continue to harm the Maltese Government in Europe.”
“We should prevent them from continuing to do so. The electorate should vote for all the Labour candidates to ensure another victory for all Maltese and Gozitans,” he said.
Alfred Sant concluded by saying that the Labour Government has improved the economic and financial condition of the younger generation, workers, self-employed, pensioners. “It is obvious that more has to be done and that Joseph Muscat’s government is determined to further improve the standard of living of the Maltese and Gozitans.”
