Casa Amalia home for the elderly inaugurated in Victoria, GozoThe Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana has inaugurated Casa Amalia – a new private home for the elderly located in the heart of Victoria.

During the official opening the Minister said that this new home means that for the first time in Gozo there is private investment in services for the elderly.

As in fact the Ministry for Gozo has done, with an agreement to purchase professional services from Casa Amalia – a home specialising in dementia care,” Dr Caruana said.

The Minister went on to say that the “Government is committed during this legislature to create 500 new beds for the elderly in Gozo, as promised in the Election Manifesto, with Gozo receiving an increase in its allocation on the last budget.”

Dr Caruana explained that Casa Amelia will play an important role as the home is located in the heart of Victoria, meaning that the elderly will be receiving care while being able to continue to live in the community – mirroring the Government policy of helping to keep the elderly within their community.

Justyne Caruana thanked iCare Ltd. for their commitment in the field of dementia in older people, especially when it will not only deliver services but will also create new jobs.

The service will be available both during the day and at night, provided by employees with specialised training in the dementia sector.

Programmes will be offered during the day tailored to customers based on professional advice.

Casa Amalia has 23 beds over 3 floors and offers facilities for both couples and single people.Casa Amalia home for the elderly inaugurated in Victoria, GozoThe rooms are all equipped with modern facilities to ensure quality care and dignity to the elderly. A good initiative for a much needed Venture. Gozo has a high percentage of Senior Citizens so projects of these kind are needed and welcomed.
