Class A riders dominate the day at Gozo Motocross Championship

Last Sunday the third round of the Yamaha Gozo Motocross Championship championship was held at Ta’ Xhajma Track.
Gozitan and Maltese riders participated in the event, which was organised by the Gozo Motocross Association, with Class A riders dominating the competition.
Large crowds of spectators and supporters turned out on the cold afternoon to support their favourite riders in what proved to be an unpredictable competition.
Class A riders dominated the day, putting on the most incredible competitive show. The GMA said that top rider of the Championship classification, David Dimech dominated all 3 races from the very beginning.
However, Steve Xuereb managed to get past him in the very last seconds of each heat. Xuereb who ended first in Class A, achieved maximum points with Dimech following closely behind.Class B was just as challenging with Robert Spiteri and Glenn Vella striving hard to come into first place. Vella won this category followed by Spiteri. Keith Bugeja came in third.
Jorn Stellini managed to win first place once again. Stellini is at the top of the Class B Championship list. Matthew Spiteri came in second place followed very closely by Matthew Buttigieg who ended his heats only 1 point behind Spiteri.
In Class C, Anthony Fenech and Marvin Sultana both had engine trouble, so they had to pull out. Meanwhile, newcomer Daniel Portelli did well achieving maximum points for the day. David Mercieca came in 2nd followed by Eric Cardona and Isaac Bartolo respectively.
Gozo Motocross Association advised that the fourth round of the Yamaha Gozo Motocross Championship 2019 will take place next month on Sunday, the 20th of January 2019 at Ta’ Xhajma Track. Races start at 1:00pm. The Association added that it encourages and welcomes new riders to join them.At the end, Galea General Service awarded Ravenol Lubricant Oil products to all the winners.
