Elusive 2 is the overall winner of the BOV Gozo Regatta 2018The Podesta siblings were in a class of their own throughout the BOV Gozo Regatta Weekend. Racing in the IRC Racer Class 1, Elusive 2 was the first boat at Mgarr Harbour in Gozo in the passage race from the Grand Harbour, which took place last month.

Elusive’s crew. with Christoph Podesta at the helm, made the most of the strong winds to tackle the race courses set out by principal race officer Peter Dimech to win 3 of the 4 other races and taking the overall title with a healthy margin.

In IRC Racer Class II, Maltese Falcon 2, skippered by Jonathan Camilleri Bowman was first in all races, winning the class.

The IRC Cruiser class was a closer affair with Peter Ellul Vincenti’s Manana slightly edging Fedinand Grech’s Kon Tiki for the class victory.

Anthony Miggiani’s Gioia edged Ivan Leone’s Segno D’Aria, in the Club Cruiser class – the only foreign boat to compete in this race – while Maltese Musketeers won the Sportboat class, also a first appearance of this class in the race.Elusive 2 is the overall winner of the BOV Gozo Regatta 2018The trophies were presented to the winners by Stefan Abela from Bank of Valletta’s PR and Community Department and Godwin Zammit, Commodore of the Royal Malta Yacht Club, with Maya and Christoph Podesta receiving the BOV Gozo Regatta trophy for the third time following their wins in 2015 and 2016.

Stefan Abela congratulated all the participating boats and crews, “especially to ‘Elusive 2’ on their third win in this race. We are delighted to see a healthy participation in this race, and also the participation of the Sports Boat class for the first time.”
