Kercem’s Ghaqda Muzikali San Girgor wins Festi Inklussivi Award

Winners of the Festi Inklussivi Awards 2018 have been announced by Parliamentary Secretary for Persons with Disability and Active Ageing Anthony Agius Decelis.
Among the winners announced to receive funds was Ghaqda Muzikali San Girgor of Kercem, Gozo, for a project that it has with the School of Music in Mirandola, Italy, so that they can help persons with disabilities in the field of music.
The Festi Inklussivi 2018 fund, is aimed at the festa organisations around Malta and Gozo to encourage them to create initiatives which embraces the entire community, including the elderly and disabled to participate in the villages festas.
The allocated budget for the fund was € 100,000 which will be distributed among 19 projects in various locations across Malta and Gozo. The amount used for each project varies, with the larger project allocated a maximum of € 10,000 the Parliamentary Secretary said.
These projects were selected by an independent panel led by Judge Lawrence Quintano, which included the Commissioner for the Rights of Person with Disability Professor Andrew Azzopardi, Dr Alistair De Gaetano, Dr Noel Camilleri, Dr Bernard Busuttil, Matthew Chetcuti, Mario Coleiro, Karl Bugeja and Father Colin.
Anthony Agius Decelis said that this was the first time the scheme had been launched and in the coming years the Parliamentary Secretariat will continue to invest in the initiative and provide the support to enhance the projects of these organisations that work with such dedication.
In conclusion, the Parliamentary Secretary said that he was looking forward to 2019 to see the implementation of these initiatives.
