Open-air opera on opening night of Make Music Great in GharbIt was a wonderful opening night for this year’s edition of Make Music Great, organised by the Gharb Local Council in collaboration with the Ministry for Gozo.

Qasba Zejt – A live open-air opera in Pjazza taz-Zjara tal-Madonna wowed the packed audience with wonderful singing and music.Open-air opera on opening night of Make Music Great in GharbThe evening of opera was organised by the Gharb Local Council and the Ghaqda Muzikali Vizitazzjoni and took place under the patronage of President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.Open-air opera on opening night of Make Music Great in GharbQasba Zejt, an original opera, was based on the legend of St. Dimitri, written by Sebastian Saliba, and with music by Maestro Raymond Sciberras.

Maestro Jason Camilleri conducted the orchestra, vocal director was Mariella Spiteri Cefai and artistic director for the evening was George Mizzi.

Roger Tirazona interpreted the part of Dimitri and Georgina Gauci played Zgugina. Other soloists included Ruth Portelli, Marvic Cini and Sienna Cremona.Open-air opera on opening night of Make Music Great in GharbThe Make Music Great 2018 programme continues on Saturday and Sunday:

Saturday, the 24th of November – 7.00pm onwards

Parade and Musical Band Program at Pjazza Zjara tal-Madonna, followed by a traditional dinner.

Sunday, the 25th of November – 9.30am onwards

Marching Parade, including eight Bands, followed by a Traditional lunch at Pjazza Zjara tal-Madonna.
