The Minister for Gozo has inaugurated a project in aid of the community of Kercem, with the embellishment of a multipurpose hall, carried out by the St Gregory Musical Society of Kercem.
The hall has been dedicated to Can Lino Vella, who was one of the co-founders of the St Gregory Musical Society.
The inauguration took place yesterday, the Feast of St Cecilia – the patron saint of music. The Minister congratulated the Society on the project and thanked them for their work within the community.
There was a Mass for the benefactors, with Spiritual Director Mgr Carmelo Borg, along with parish priest Fr Brian Mejlak and Fr Reuben Micallef.
The modern hall is principally intended to be used for band rehearsals. However, it will also be available for other activities, such as exhibitions, conferences and teaching.
It has a projector and big screen, sound system, air conditioning, and fitted with flame retardant curtains at the windows.
The project was completed with the help of finance through the Ministry for Gozo NGOs Assistance Scheme.
