A fleet of 15 boats – including for the first time ever, foreign boats – have registered for this weekend’s BOV Gozo Regatta.
These boats have remained in Malta since the Middle Sea Race specifically for this Regatta, as well as Sports Boats, the fast and agile 20 foot boats.
Organised by the Royal Malta Yacht Club, the Regatta is being held between the 23rd and 25th of November.
Crews will race up from the Grand Harbour to Gozo on Friday, with a number of coastal races in Gozo on Saturday, followed by a race back to Malta on Sunday.
Boat skippers met for the customary race briefing and were addressed by RMYC Commodore Godwin Zammit, race director Peter Dimech and Stefan Abela from BOV’s PR and Marketing Department.
‘The BOV Gozo Regatta is always welcome among the sailing community, being the first race following the gruelling Middle Sea Race’ said the RMYC Commodore. “We are delighted to have a new class, the sports boats participating in this race, and also to see foreign boats choosing to stay in Malta to enjoy the island and its seas.”
“The BOV Gozo Regatta has become a firm fixture in BOV’s strong commitment towards the local sports scene,” said Stefan Abela.
“We are pleased to see a closely knit sailing community, competing in a friendly but competitive environment and take this opportunity to wish the best sailing conditions for the race,” he added.
