The Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana has launched the fourth edition of the campaign – Nahseb Fik (I am Thinking of You) during a visit to the Santa Marta Day Centre.
The Minister explained that the campaign enables people from certain groups to make their wishes for a Christmas gift and the public is invited to fulfil these wishes, this year there are a record 400 gift requests.
Dr Caruana added that this initiative is gaining in popularity every year. She said that originally this Christmas campaign was for the benefit of the elderly, but now gifts are also distributed to persons with special needs and children undergoing treatment or therapy.
Minister Caruana pointed out that the beauty of this project is that at Christmas time we have people who for one reason or another cannot share the joy associated with these holidays. “Therefore, it is an extremely nice gesture to fulfil their wishes, and see the value of the true meaning of celebrating Christmas.”
She appealed to the public to take part and to think of those people who are lonely and going through difficult times, particularly at this time of the year.
The Minister gave thanks to Ms Lina Pecorella, who was the brain behind this initiative and all those who have over the years contributed gifts to the appeal.
