Commemoration ceremony honours victims of the two world wars

A commemoration ceremony for Remembrance Day – Jum it-Tifkira – took place this morning in Gozo to honour of the victims of the two world wars of the 20th century. Today also marks 100 years since the end of the First World War.
A prayer service and wreath laying ceremony at Independence Square, Victoria was presided over by the Minister for Gozo Dr Justyne Caruana, who said that the Remembrance Day in Gozo honoured those who served peace.A minute of silence was held as the Citadel clock stuck the eleventh hour, which was followed by the Last Post and the Reveille.
Traditional red poppy wreaths were laid at the foot of the Christ the King Monument, commemorating the Gozitan victims who perished between the years 1939-1945 by enemy action during the World War II.
