The Ministry for Health has said in a statement, that the Government’s partnership with Steward Health Care “will continue to upgrade Malta’s healthcare, which is already considered one of the best in the world.”
The Ministry stated that “Steward Health Care has proven itself to be a highly committed partner, with a capable leadership which has taken on all of the obligations of the concession agreement and is delivering them to the highest standards in excellent time.”
It added that “works on the anatomy centre are now complete and Steward continues to make strong progress, with the development of the medical school in Gozo continuing at a rapid pace.”
This will eventually lead to the projects at St Luke’s Hospital and Karin Grech as well as the new Gozo Hospital, said the Ministry.
€22 million is being invested by Steward Health Care in the construction of the Barts Medical School, said the Ministry, “with an additional €2.2 million in the anatomy centre, making this one of the most significant investments in Gozo in recent years.”
The Health Ministry explained that as the Barts Medical School reaches completion, “the concessionaire will now be shifting its attention to the construction of a state-of-the-art hospital that all Gozitans will be proud of.”
It added that Steward will also then be working on the renovation and refurbishing of Karin Grech and St Luke’s hospitals.
