Xewkija Local Council has benefitted from funds of almost €170,00 for improvement work on the rural road – Triq tal-Horob.
The work was financed through EU and Government funds under the Rural Development Programme for Malta 2014-2020.
Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights Clint Camilleri visited the completed project and said that several rural roads around Gozo are being improved, “for the benefit of the agricultural sector and rural communities. ”
This work of upgrading is being carried out as part of the measures announced a few months ago for re-building rural roads and restoring rubble walls in Gozo, amounting to € 6.6 million, the Parliamentary Secretary said.
He added that indirectly, over 1,400 farmers are expected to benefit from this improved access to rural roads around our islands, helping them to improve their activities and increase efficiency.
