Remembrance Day commemoration service in Victoria this Sunday

Tomorrow in Gozo – Remembrance Day – Jum it-Tifkira – will be commemorated with a prayer service and wreath laying ceremony in honour of the victims of the two world wars of the 20th century.
This year the 11th of November also marks 100 years since the end of the First World War.
Presided over by the Minister for Gozo, Dr Justyne Caruana, at Independence Square, Victoria, this commemorative ceremony will start at 10.30am, guests are kindly asked to be seated by 10.15am.
As the Citadel clock strikes the eleventh hour, of the eleventh month, a minute of silence will be held, this will be followed by the Last Post and the Reveille.
There will then be the laying of traditional red poppy wreaths at the foot of the monument commemorating the Gozitan victims, who perished between the years 1939-1945 by enemy action during the World War II.
Known also as Christ the King Monument, it is a 1949 work of Italian sculptor Carlo Pisi and was unveiled by H.M. Queen Elizabeth II on 7th May 1954.
