Christmas stamp issue to feature three figurines of the Baby JesusA set of 3 stamps are being issued by MaltaPost which feature three figurines of the Baby Jesus found in churches around Gozo and Malta, and photographed by Mark Micallef Perconte.

Christmas in Gozo and Malta has a strong religious significance and it is customary for households to exhibit figurines of Baby Jesus in a model manger.

These are displayed behind windows or other prominent places around the house. This tradition, together with crib making, has been passed on from one generation to another.

The sheets measure 185mm x 115mm. Printex Limited produced the set in offset and the issue consists of 1,000,000 of the €0.26 stamp, 250,000 of the €0.59 stamp and 52,000 of the €0.63 stamp.

They will be available for sale as from next Friday, the 16th of November from all Post Offices in Malta and Gozo.
