Gozo celebrations mark the feast of Pope St John Paul II

The Liturgical Feast of Pope St John Paul II was marked by the JP2 Foundation with three events.
The first took place on Saturday with the More House School Choir from Knightsbridge London. The choir of 40 girls animated a High Mass in the evening celebrated by the Bishop of Gozo Mgr Mario Grech, with the participation of all the members of the Gozo Catholic Action at Our Lady of Ta’ Pinu National Sanctuary and broadcast live on TVM2
Then later that evening, the Gharb Local Council together with Gharb Basilica Chapter hosted the choir in concert at the Visitation of Our Lady Parish Basilica. The choir was under the musical direction of Ms Emily Calderwood and Ms Kamile Redzvilaite accompanied the choir on the piano.On Sunday, the youth orchestra from Germany Eurode Jugendorchester Herzogenrath and the Gozo Youth Orchestra, under the direction of Mro Joseph Grech accompanied Tanner Angelo Muscat during Mass at Our Lady of Ta’ Pinu Basilica
Mass was celebrated by Rev Dr Joseph Zammit who was ordained by Pope John Paul II, 34 years ago.The third event to mark the liturgical feast day on Monday, the 22nd of October, was a Thanksgiving Mass at the Parish Basilica of Gharb, the Gozitan village visited by Pope John Paul II in May 1990.
The Mass was celebrated by Rev Mons Joseph Attard Parish-priest Emeritus ,who worked close for some time with Pope John Paul II while in Rome. The Parish Choir, under the direction of Mro Antoine Mercieca animated the service.
