International Wind & Kite Festival gets off to a great start in Gozo

The International Wind & Kite Festival continues today with a favourable wind, near the chapel of San Dimitri, just to the north of the village of Gharb – A celebration of art, culture and colours.
Visitors to this first edition of the three-day festival, which opened yesterday, will have the opportunity to see international, traditional and professional kite fliers, with around fifteen delegations from different countries and regions, all in Gozo to participate in the event.
Also not to be missed on Sunday, is the very popular, Traditional San Dimitri Fair, which is being held as part of the programme for the festival.Entry is free of charge to the festival and the full programme is available to download by clicking here.
For today, Saturday, the programme at San Dimitri is as follows,
10am-12pm Flying display of kites of all shapes and sizes animated by Guilherme Linares Palau
8pm Open air BBQ Dinner and entertainment area for kids,
10pm Kite flying displays and open-air cinema
10.30pm Pyrotechnical fireworks display
