Celebrations in Gozo for the Feast of Pope Saint John Paul II

The Liturgical Feast of Pope Saint John Paul II will be celebrated by the Universal Church on Monday, the 22nd of October. He visited Malta three times and the island of Gozo once.
This feast will be marked by the JP2 Foundation with two events. This Sunday, the 21st,, Rev Can Dr Joseph Zammit JUD will celebrate Mass at Our Lady of Ta’ Pinu Basilica at 11.15am. Can. Zammit was ordained priest by Pope John Paul II in May 1984.
The German Youth Orchestra Eurode Jugendorchester Herzogenrath, will animate the service, under the direction of Mro Joseph Grech, they will be accompanying young Gozitan Tenor Angelo Muscat.
Then on the feast day, Monday, the 22nd of October, a Thanksgiving Mass will take place at the Parish Basilica of Gharb – the Gozitan village visited by Pope John Paul II in May 1990.
The Mass will be celebrated by Rev Mons Joseph Attard Parish priest Emeritus who worked closely for some time with Pope John Paul II when he was in Rome.
The Parish Choir, under the direction of Mro Antoine Mercieca, will be animating the service.
