Heritage Malta is organising an education and leisure activity for all the family in the series Sundays with Heritage Malta. Following last year’s popularity of such activities Heritage Malta said it is committed to organising such events for the enjoyment of the general public.
The first activity of this year, which is being supported by the Malta Council for the Culture and Arts, will be based on life at sea between 1795 and 1805 that is during the last few years under the Knights of St John, the two years of French occupation and the first five years of English presence in Malta.
Those taking part in the activity will get to know more about life at sea two hundred years ago as experienced by both sailors and passengers with special emphasis on the food and drink that was served during the voyages as well as the arms that were used to defend the travellers from corsairs.
The activities which will be taking place in the museum will include the firing of canon and muskets, military drills and a market stall with food and drinks. A feature documentary The James Craig Sails Again and a short feature on the newly Heritage Malta acquired boat Temptation will be screened. In another part of the museum, Heritage Malta personnel will be conducting maintenance and upkeep works on an old boat and demonstrations on boat-model building.
This event will be held on Sunday the 25th of January at the Malta Maritime Museum in Vittoriosa between 10.00am and 5.30pm. Tickets for this event can be bought on site at the reduced price of €4.00 for adults and €2 for students and senior citizens. Free entrance for children under 16 and Heritage Malta members.
