The Gozo Cathedral on Sunday, celebrated a Solemn Mass with a homily about the Holy Rosary, the celebrant was the new parish vicar Fr Daniel Sultana, to mark the feast of our Lady of the Holy Rosary.
It is a long believed tradition in the church that the rosary was started in the twelfth century by St. Dominic de Guzman.
Following the Mass, an aux flambeaux procession took place with the statue of Our Lady of the Rosary led by Cathedral archdeacon Mgr. Tarcisio Camilleri. This year the procession followed a different journey from previous years, leaving from the cathedral to G.P.F. Agius De Soldanis Street, Palm Street, Republic Street and back to the Cathedral Square.
On the steps at the front of the Cathedral an outside altar had been placed, where the sacramental blessing was given to those present.
The Bishop of Gozo Mgr. Mario Grech participated in the evening and was in the front of the procession.
