Zminijietna in a statement, has appealed to the Environment and Planning Review Tribunal to reject the appeal being made on the refusal of a development application to change the use from an agricultural store in Hondoq ir-Rummien to a souvenir shop and to carry out additions and alterations.
The Tribunal is due to make the decision on the appeal, tomorrow, Tuesday, the 2nd of October. The Planning Authority refused the application in March last year The application had been made by Mr. Angelo Cefai on behalf of AAC Ltd. a company owned by Ta’ Frenc Real Estate,
“Residents, various environmental and grassroot organisations, as well as the Qala Local Council objected to the application,” stated the leftist organisation Zminijietna.
Zminijietna concluded by saying that “if approved, this application throws the door wide open to other developments in that area. Hondoq ir- Rummien is still threatened by ‘massive’ development project proposal for a tourist village and a yacht marina.”
