The Jesus of Nazareth Centre and night shelter opened in Xaghra

A new night shelter for the elderly has been opened in Gozo – The Jesus of Nazareth Centre in Xaghra has been completed through an agreement between the Government and the Church which was signed in March last year.
The opening was carried out by the Minister for Gozo Dr Justyne Caruana and the Bishop of Gozo Mgr Mario Grech also present among others, was the Mayor of Xaghra Joe Cordina.
Dr Caruana said that this new night shelter service will be starting soon operated by the Ministry for Gozo.The Minister thanked the Rector of the Jesus of Nazareth Church, Rev. Fr Antony Refalo and his whole team, as well as the Ministry for Gozo workers, and all who contributed in any way towards this wonderful project.
This Centre will accommodates older people from the Xaghra community and is seen as a project that will continue to strengthen services in the active ageing sector in Gozo.
The night shelter will be able to accommodate a number of elderly people, offering a secure and protective environment for those who live alone and whom, at night, for various reasons, they feel insecure.
