A number of issues and initiatives affecting Gozitan students were discussed during a meeting held recently between representatives of the Gozo University Group and the Minister for Gozo Dr Justyne Caruana.
During the meeting at the Ministry, GUG said that one of the main issues discussed was regarding the use of video conferencing in the Gozo University Campus.
“This initiative would provide video conferencing for certain lectures and courses in Gozo for at least two days during the week,” it said.
Video conferencing is already taking place for the Criminology course, but the GUG organisation said that it would like this to be extended to other courses as well.
According to GUG, the Gozo University Campus “has equipment for video conferencing worth €25,000, which is hardly used.”
It said that Minister Justyne Caruana approved of this initiative and said that these possibilities were discussed with the University of Malta.
Dr Caruana also mentioned that by the year 2020, the Gozo University Campus in Xewkija will undergo a refurbishment with an extra wing being added.
The GUG organisation thanked the Gozo Ministry and Minister Justyne Caruana “for the constant support and help in regards to several issues and initiatives undertaken by the organisation.”
