Works on the Gozo Museum is about to begin and the Ministry for Gozo has said that, “for reasons of safety and security,” the Ninu Cremona monument, which is located opposite the site of the museum, will be temporarily transferred pending the work on the building.
The monument will be preserved in a safe place to avoid any possible damage and will be returned to its position after completion of the work.
The monument to Gozitan Ninu Cremona, a linguist (1880-1972) is the work of Alfred Camilleri Cauchi and the Gozo statue was completed on the initiative of teachers and students of the Gozo Lyceum.
It was inaugurated by the then Minister of Education Agatha Barbara, on the 25th of May 1973. The figure of Ninu Cremona was worked in bronze in the San Carlo Foundry Marsa.
