Update 2: Joseph Grech, President of the Gozo Business Chamber passes away

Update with Ministry for Gozo and PN statement below – The Gozo Business Chamber, with great sadness, has announced the sudden passing away of its President, Mr Joseph G Grech, at the Gozo General Hospital this morning at the age of 78.
The GBC said that Mr Grech has, with great dedication, served the Chamber from its inception in 1999, first as Chief Executive Officer and since 2016 as President.
It said that his contribution over all these years was instrumental in getting the Chamber recognised as the main representative of the Gozitan business community, both on a national and international level.
Mr Grech had also recently been appointed as president of INSULEUR, the Association of Chamber of Commerce of Island Regions.
Mr Grech, an ex-teacher by profession, was known as the perfect gentleman. He dedicated his life to the Scouting movement in Gozo and was actively involved in various other philanthropic organisations on the island. He is a great loss for the island of Gozo, said the GBC.
The Council of the GBC passed on its condolences to Mr Grech’s family. May God give him eternal peace and rest.
Ministry for Gozo statement
The Ministry for Gozo has expressed its sadness at the loss of Joseph Grech, President of the Gozo Business Chamber.
The Ministry in a statement said that, Joe Grech was a person who had held various roles in his lifetime. As an educator, with a deep love for pedagogy, academia, and learning.
These attributes were key and instrumental in roles he had with the Gozo Scouts where Joe Grech was not only a founding member of the Victoria Scout Group, but remained involved in the organisation until the end, said the Ministry.
Apart from his work with the Gozo Business Chamber and other entities, on a social and philanthropic level, Joe Grech worked hard in his roles within various organisations. The Ministry said he was an exemplary person and gentleman.
The Ministry for Gozo expressed its condolences to the family of Joe Grech and said that Gozo has lost one of its strongest voices.
The Nationalist Party has said that it joins in the grief over the death of the President of the Gozo Business Chamber, Joseph G Grech.
The PN in a statement, highlighted Joseph Grech’s commitment to Gozo, its business life and business on the island. Saying that he fulfilled his mission with the establishment of the Gozo Business Chamber 19 years ago.
The PN offered its condolences to the family of Joseph Grech and his friends, especially those in the Gozo Business Chamber.
