Magna Zmien is landing in Gozo later this month. It will be presenting Kapsula Merill – the Magnificent Memories Machine – Landing #2 – a night dedicated to the collection of local memories and a tribute to Gozo.
A Valletta 2018 project as part of the Cultural Programme, it is a movement to collect, convert and make available fading memories through the digitisation of sound and image home collections.
These salvaged memories will provide a fertile collective context for present and future cyberspace navigators and storytellers.
The programme for Gozo features a time-machine performance by Armchair Voyager Wistin and the Banda ta’ Memorji Meraviljuzi.
In addition, there will also be a sound installation by Timothy Garrett, and visuals by Andrej Vujicic. Armchair Voyager No. 35, Wistin, offers the unique opportunity to save your trapped memories.
It was back in April, that Magna Zmien visited Gozo for the first time, when during a community meeting at the Gozo Ministry the public were invited to submit their analogue formats of long forgotten memories to get a free digital copy for sharing with family and friends.
The event is taking place on Saturday, the 15th of September, starting at 8pm, at the Cathedral Square, Cittadella, Gozo.
Magna Zmien in Gozo coincides with the Valletta 2018 Gozo weekend – which is happening on the 15th and 16th September.
Besides Magna Zmien’s landing in the Cittadella, Valletta 2018 said that Gozo will also be hosting a film screening by Tafxnaf, a Valletta 2018 project which gives children a voice through storytelling and film-making on the 16th of September.
An exhibition 1001 Dreams, which includes a framed collage of instant photos that encourage us to dream again, will also be held.
