Xaghra celebrations for first Solemn High Mass led by Fr Joseph Hili

The first Solemn High Mass to be celebrated by newly-ordained priest, Fr Joseph Hili, took place on Saturday evening at the Xaghra Basilica.
This special evening started with a cortege led by Fr Joseph Hili from the Xaghra primary school to the Basilica.During the Solemn High Mass, Gozo Choir Schola Cantorum Jubilate, directed by Marouska Attard, performed The Mass Missa Brevis Capella Regalis by Anthony Caesar for five voices, accompanied on the organ by world-renowned organist and director, Wayne Marshall. The Mass concluded with the kissing of hands.
The celebrations continued with a reception and meal with entertainment in Xaghra Square. Those that attended commented on the wonderful occasion, with a joyful atmosphere and excellent food.This evening (Sunday) at 5pm in Xaghra Basilica they will hold a Pro-Life Day celebration and the blessing of unborn babies.
The Mass will be celebrated by Can. John Bartolo, and Archpriest Carmelo Refalo will deliver. the homily. This celebration is being held in association with Dar Guzeppa Debono.
