L-Ikla t-tajba – theatre and banquet starts Thursday at Xwejni Saltpans

A reminder that starting tomorrow evening, the Xwejni Saltpans, Zebbug, Gozo, will be the venue for the ultimate community banquet and theatre – L-Ikla t-tajba.
Teatru Malta and Valletta 2018, in collaboration with the Ministry for Gozo have organised this production – the largest cultural event being organised by Valletta 2018 in Gozo.
Patrons will be watch a contemporary theatrical representation under the direction of Romanian director Nona Ciobanu.
Then this gastronomic activity and theatre will become as one, when following the performance everyone is invited to join the community meal, and enjoy a traditional Maltese – majjallta. Dine on slow-roasted pork with local grown vegetables and potatoes and a glass of wine, all catered by Ta’ Mena of Gozo.
The Maltese meal will feature ingredients from our past, delicacies of today and a weird and wonderful food experience for all audiences to enjoy, the organisers said.
Under the direction of director Nona Ciobanu, the show will also include poetry by Immanuel Mifsud. The cast includes actors: Paul Portelli, Ruth Borg, Rebecca Camilleri, Charlotte Grech, Martina Georgina, Ira Melkonyan, Julia Camilleri, Liliana Portelli, Pierre Stafrace and Lisa Farrugia. The Set Design and Visuals are by Peter Košir and the Manager is Vanessa Attard.

The dates and times are as follows: Wednesday the 22nd to Sunday, the 26th of August, from 7.30pm onwards.
Transport has been arranged by the organisers for each night, at a cost of €2 per person, payable on board. The transport will pick up at 6.30pm from the Mgarr ferry terminal, 6.40pm at the Grand Hotel, Mgarr, 7.00pm at Ta’ Cenc in Sannat at 7.10pm at Downtown Hotel in Victoria and is then due to arrive at the Xwejni Saltpans at 7.20pm.
