The Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana announced has announced the finalists that will benefit from the Ministry for Gozo Sports Organisations Assistance Scheme.
The scheme aims to provide support to sports clubs registered in Gozo. It opened for the first time in October last year and 16 organisations applied.
Of these, three have qualified to receive funds – Ghajnsielem Redcoats, SK Victoria Wanderers FC and Xewkija Tigers FC, having met the criteria as set out in the guidelines that were published.
The scheme aims to foster a more physically active society, to redouble sports tourism in Gozo and to continue to encourage cooperation between the Ministry for Gozo and sports organisations through collaborative projects, initiatives and other activities.
Dr Caruana, while congratulating the three finalists, said that she was pleased with the number of applications that were submitted, but at the same time the process should be revised so that more organisations can benefit, with the work already underway for just this type of scheme.
