Increase in passengers crossing to Gozo, May is busiest month so far

1,535,414 passengers travelled between Malta and Gozo on Gozo Channel during the second quarter this year, the National Statistics Office said today, this was up by 8.5% on last year.
May was the most popular month for crossings – with 513,598 passengers, or 33.5% of the total for the quarter. There was also an
increase in the number of vehicles with 423,152, making the trip, up by 7.4%.
Gozo Channel made 5,776 trips during the first quarter, an increase of 4.2% on 2017. The NSO noted that most trips took place in June –
with 2,008 or 34.8% of the total for the quarter.

It added that passenger numbers from Cirkewwa were busiest on Friday and Saturday, whereas highest numbers from Mgarr were recorded on
Sunday and Saturday.
