Elderly woman grievously injured during horse race in VictoriaA 72-year-old woman was grievously injured on Monday evening, after she was hit by a horse during the races which were being held along Republic Street in Victoria, as part of the St George’s Feast celebrations.

The Police said that the incident took place at about 8pm. The woman, who is from Victoria, was rushed to the Gozo General hospital, and later transferred by helicopter to Mater Dei Hospital for further medical assistance.

Police investigations are underway.

      This had to happen as the whole event is a ‘safety disaster event’. Next time some one will be killed. Are the organisers insured ?… I doubt it.
      Were adequate protection barriers in place ?… No
      Do the local police show any concern for the public safety ? …..No, and just like them driving past those idiots who park up on the zebra crossing ‘ZigZag’
      lines and do nothing. Its a pedestrian safety issue.
      And I always laugh when the writers of these injury reports use the outdated, old English…”grievously injured”…..you should use ‘seriously’ or ‘badly’ or just plain ‘seriously’……but I suppose they are ‘rendering a service’ (lol)
      I just hope the lady in question fully recovers and sues the organisers for millions.
