David John Buttigieg, aged 26, of Qala, has been given an 18 month jail sentence when he was found guilty of trafficking ecstasy pills after being caught by the police in 2006 at Cirkewwa trying to board the ferry.
Mr Buttigieg, who was in the company of a friend at the time of the arrest, denied the charges, and the court was told that Mr Buttigieg suffers from depression. A quantity of 200 pills were found on the accused, and a his friend was also found to be carrying a similar amount at the time.
