Corpus Christi College, dates back to 1352, and is one of 31 colleges which together form the University of Cambridge, one of the world’s leading academic institutions.
The college choir sings three services each week in the college’s early nineteenth-century chapel, as well as performing in festivals and numerous concerts during the year.
Accompanied by organ scholar Paul Newton-Jackson, the choir is conducted by the college’s Director of Music, Robin Walker.
Gaulitanus said that in Tuesday’s concert, the choir will perform cappella works by the great renaissance masters such as Tallis and Byrd, juxtaposed with contemporary works, including works by top British composers Jonathan Dove and Judith Weir, as well as pieces written by choir members themselves.
Adding flavour to the repertoire will be cross-over works, such as those by the acclaimed US choral group Pentatonix.
The concert will be concluded by Gaulitanus Choir and Corpus Choir joining forces for two immortal choral works: Stainer´s God So Loved the World and Faure´s Cantique de Jean Racine.
These will be directed by the Gozitan choir´s founder-director and the evening´s artistic director, Colin Attard.
The concert – Sing Joyfully Unto God – is being performed this Tuesday, the 3rd of July, starting at 8pm, entrance is free of charge and everyone is cordially invited to attend.
