An innovative `Independent living’ preparatory course is being launched for Gozitan students who will be continuing their studies in Malta.
The new course was announced during a visit to the Sir M.A. Refalo Sixth Form complex in Victoria, by the Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana.
This is the first time a course such as this has been offered and is being organised by the Department for Customer Service within the Ministry for Gozo, the Minister said.
She added that the course was organised following suggestions put forward by some of the students.
Dr Caruana remarked that Gozitan students face several challenges while continuing studies in Malta, including a major one – independent living – when apart from their study commitments, these students have to run their own home, shop and prepare their meals.
Dr Caruana pointed out that all this must be done in the shortest possible time so as not to lose study time.
This course, which is held over 14 lessons, will educate students on various aspects of independent living, such as simple ways to prepare nutritious foods which take little preparation time, the Minister said.
Applications for this course, which will be offered free of charge, are available online here.
