Leone Goes Pop 2018 Gozo concert hailed as a huge success

The Leone Philharmonic Society produced it’s 11th consecutive edition of the Leone Goes Pop on Saturday evening in Independence Square and proved to be a huge success, the Society said.
This year’s concert was part of the Victoria City Day celebrations and part of the Valletta 2018 cultural programme.
The Leone Band, made up of ninety band members, was under the baton of Mro Colin Attard and performed various pop music pieces.
Among these where pieces by the Italian band Pooh, Bon Jovi, Michael Jackson, Robbie Williams, Amy Winehouse, The Passenger and Bruno Mars. Various medley were played by the Band, together with the phenomenal piece ‘Sing Sing Sing’ from 1937, where the audience joined in by dancing to the music.
Also entertaining the large audience during the evening were popular singers Claudia Faniello and Matthew James (former Red Electrick), together with local talent from Gozo Fabian Galea, Francesca Sciberras, Michela Pace and resident choir Aurora Youth Choir, joined the band. The concert was hosted by 89.7 Bay’s Daniel & Ylenia.
The concert came to a close with ‘We are the World,’ followed by Maltese music, which was followed by synchronised roof-top fireworks.
