Unique concert performed in Gozo by baritone Charles Buttigieg

A Unique Concert by the young baritone Charles Buttigieg from Ghajnsielem, was held at the Parish Church Of Our Lady Loreto, where Charles had served as altar boy.
Accompanied on the organ by Mro Stephen Camilleri, Charles sang several pieces, which were well received by audience which filled the massive Gothic church.With sweetness and professionalism Charles sang Ave Maria by Schubert, the Ave Verum of Mozart, I’ll Walk With God from the film The Student Prince, Non Scordar Di Me which was first sung in 1935 by Beniamino Gigli, a song composed by the Neapolitan Ernesto De Curtis, to name but a few.
Organist Stephen Camilleri performed works during the evening programme which included, Trumpet Voluntary of Jeremiah Clarke, Ombra Mai Fu of Haendel, Sifonia de Fanfares, Nina- Aria Anticha of Pergolesi, l-Overture ‘Music for the Royal Fireworks and others.In in the coming weeks Charles will be heading off to America where he will continue his studies on his unique and strong voice, which has also attracted the attention of Maltese tenor Joseph Calleja.
Charles Buttigieg, in the years ahead will be among other professional singers of worldwide fame because as the Maltese say, “the day from morning shows,” and the “beautiful and strong voice that already embraces this young man at a tender age is a guarantee for the future,” said the organisers of the concert.This was also confirmed by the parish priest of Ghajnsielem Fr Frankie Bajada who made a speech for the occasion.
Thanks were given to the JP2 Foundation (Pope John Paul II Foundation) who organised this concert, with the full collaboration of the Ghajnsielem Local Council and the Parish of OL of Loreto.
