Work on Gozo tunnel link should start during this legislature - PMSpeaking during an interview at a political event in Marsalforn earlier this evening, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said that the work on the proposed Gozo tunnel link should begin before the end of this legislature, and that the necessary studies are already well underway.

He also said that other projects relating to the connectivity of the island needed to be looked at in the meantime, such as replacement ferries for Gozo Channel and a fast ferry service.

Muscat pointed out that the continuing rise in the number of tourists meant that the local infrastructure was being put under pressure, resulting in queues for the services.

Gozo people have to get together and put a stop to this because this will cause Gozo to turn into how bad Malta is. Gozo will become one big dump.

Seems like it is going ahead even if the majority of people don’t want it. It will ruin Gozo

Has a costing been done.? Is the funding in place?

    3. Janey says:

Gozo and Malta should be 2 separate countries because they are separated by sea. Gozo should have their own President. Think of how stupid it is to say that Gozo is part of Malta if they are separated by sea. Wake up people and don’t let your island be destroyed by a tunnel. Everything and everyone who is in Malta will spill over to Gozo.

I wouldn’t worry too much. This is just a flight of political fantasy. I don’t think anyone has really looked at how much this will cost. And of course a tunnel would ruin Gozo forever.
