Speaking during an interview at a political event in Marsalforn earlier this evening, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said that the work on the proposed Gozo tunnel link should begin before the end of this legislature, and that the necessary studies are already well underway.
He also said that other projects relating to the connectivity of the island needed to be looked at in the meantime, such as replacement ferries for Gozo Channel and a fast ferry service.
Muscat pointed out that the continuing rise in the number of tourists meant that the local infrastructure was being put under pressure, resulting in queues for the services.
