Tourist arrivals to the Maltese Islands up by 15.7% on last year

According to data from the National Statistics Office today, almost 235,00 tourists arrived in Malta and Gozo in April, this was an increase of 15.7% on last year.
Tourists from EU Member States went up by 17.0% to 206,797, with most of the visiting tourists aged between 25 and 44, the NSO said.
While they were on the islands their total expenditure was estimated at €159.8 million. The NSO noted that this was an increase of 3.9% on April 2017.
647,921 tourists visited the Maltese Islands in the first four months of the year – an increase of 18.1%, the NSO said.
Tourism expenditure during this period surpassed €431.3 million, 10.3% higher than last year, spending on average per capita €666, this was 6.6% less than last year, the NSO said.
